P2PU: MOOCsters unite!

Seq15Oct12: Mailed October 2, 2012.

Mechanical MOOCees,

Introducing Peer 2 Peer University.

P2PU is as hip as online learning gets…we’re a grassroots organization that runs experiments on the future of learning. P2PU will be driving the “Mechanical” aspect of the Mechanical MOOC–sending your emails, grouping learners together in cohorts, and delivering all of your resources with a smile.

What will we be using?

If you’re getting this email, you’ve already signed up for the Mechanical MOOC. We’ll be administering the learning cohorts in this fine experiment. But in this learning experiment, we’re trying to suss out what’s the best mix of learners in online groups. Peer 2 Peer University will be analyzing the results of this iteration of the Mechanical MOOC, and presenting the data openly so others can learn from this awesome experience.

That does it. You now know all the sites we’ve selected to use, but feel free to bring in others, because, hey, it’s a wide open web.

— The Mechanical MOOC

The Mechanical MOOC’s A Gentle Introduction to Python is a collaboration between Peer 2 Peer UniversityMIT OpenCourseWareOpenStudy, and Codecademy. For this course, Peer 2 Peer University has developed an email scheduler that coordinates student activity across the participating sites to facilitate collaborative learning. This email was generated by the scheduler. For more information, please visit http://mechanicalmooc.org. For questions regarding the logistics of the course, please e-mail mooc-e@p2pu.org.
